16th Birthday gift idea - Creative way to give money - GAS CAN - New driver, new car, or off to college present

Seems like when the kids get older the best gift is either money or a gift card. Since most of my older son's friends are turning 16 and new drivers, we thought this would be a fun idea to give cash.

Supplies:

Gas Can
Curling Ribbon
Tape (removable if possible)
Cash

I found a gas can a Wal-Mart, used silver curling ribbon I had leftover from the office birthdays and decided on $20 cash.

They make a tape that is specifically made to be removed that we used on the surprise money cans for teacher appreciation, but I was out. I used tiny pieces of regular tape.

As I watched TV I wrapped each bill around a pencil and tapped the end. Slide it off the pencil and made a pile of all the rolled bills.

I added each bill on the curled ribbon like stringing beads.

I left a lot of extra ribbon at the end before cutting. I started at the first bill and spaced it about an inch and tied a short ribbon in between the two bills.

I decided to do two short ribbons between each of the bills to make it more full looking.

I filled the gas can with money and attached the end to the nozzle.

When you removed the nozzle it pulls the bills out with it.

I was telling a friend about this gift idea and she said it would be a creative way to give car keys to a new driver.  After the last bill have the keys attached. It would definitely be a cool surprise.

He loved it and so did his parents!

16th BIRTHDAY - ideas - Gas Money idea, Donuts, Candy Cake - Special teen milestone bday

16th birthday is such a milestone and deserves an extra special celebration.

We were originally NOT going to get him a vehicle for his 16th birthday. I had to work and pay for my truck and insurance when I was younger. I think you appreciate it more. Now what changed our mind.....both my car and hubby's car are acting up. By acting up, I mean my braking system is failing and we just spent $2300, $1300, $3000 for three separate visits to between his car and mine in the last three months. PLUS, I had to get two new front tires a few weeks back after a flat tire. UGH! And remember, my braking system is still failing. I have no brakes for about 2-4 mins when I first put it in reverse. It's a slow drag but you roll and jerks when you have brakes. Soooooo, we are getting it "for him" but it definitely will be used while we fix other car issues.

So enough with the downer stuff....now for his celebration stuff!!!!

Found these giant metallic balloons at Michael's and used a 50% off coupon for each.

I helped him make THIS candy cake in December for his friend and he made a comment about wanting one with Hersey's Cookies and Cream bars. TA-DA!!!

I decided to make his rectangle and used a recycled box of cereal, fruit roll ups, and protein bars. He loves green so I made the base green to match his donuts. Gold metallic shreds to match his balloons.

Since we are getting him a truck I thought some gas money would be in order.

It's not new but new to him.

I found this GIANT red bow online. You just pull the strings and the bow pops open. So cool!

Finally, personalized donuts!!!! He loved them!!!

I ordered these for my boss last year and they were a huge hit.

We had a "snow day" and school was canceled. He was suppose to share them with his friends. We had donuts for breakfast and lunch and still have a ton left.

Can you freeze donuts? Lol.

Birthday success!

Kitty LITTER BOX CAKE - GROSS Halloween / April Fool's Day - PARTY FOOD idea - Cat Turds - Tutorial - So EASY

I've made this cake for Halloween, April Fool's Day, Birthday - You're the Shit Cake, etc.
So fun and super easy! I once made it for friends when they came home from a vacation after I watched their cats. LOL! Nothing says welcome home like a cat turds. :)

I purchased a new litter box and scooper. Lol. I know that's obvious but just in case.

Bake a french vanilla 9x12 cake or any flavor really. Cut into two layers.

Layer cake, icing, cake, icing
I used cream cheese icing but you could use any flavor as well.

For the crumble on top I crushed up Golden Oreos and added a little green food color in a zip lock bag.
Mix well and spread over the top.

To make the cat poop - I used tootsie roll candy. I put a few on a plate and microwaved for 5-10 seconds until melty but not melted everywhere. You just want it warm enough to mold. I start with 5 seconds and continue if needed.

I stuck a few together and stretched out the ends. :) Be creative! LOL! See the one hanging on the side? Creepy but so fun! The boys usually help with this and we joke, "Don't eat the cat poop, please!"

The one below I used more green food color and I love how it turned out!

April Fool's Day FUN Jokes / Pranks for KIDS - Nothing mean - Breakfast, lunch and dinner ideas!

Who loves April Fool's Day??? I DO! I DO!
I did all of this for April Fool's day but what a sneaky surprise ANY day. Some random fun for sure.

(WARNING: Lots of photos)

Oh, I got my boys good today and we keep it all fun and nothing mean.  I wanted their day to be a great  with no tears BUT they really wanted something mean. Weird. I guess easy to say until it happens to you. We'll see how that works out next year.

This year....
They woke up to a bedroom filled with cat, bear and bunny balloons.

PHASE ONE - complete!!!

WAKE-UP - Bedroom full of silly balloons. Too old? No way! They thought it was crazy and at first thought it was our cat's birthday since I usually fill their room with balloons for their birthday.

I found these at HEB

Dog "helping" with balloons

BREAKFAST- Frozen bowls of cereal (with the spoon) to start

Freeze the bowl of cereal with a spoon and in the morning add a little fresh milk so it looks real.

This was the note under the bowl
and then the REAL breakfast, well not really. HAHA!!

It looks like an egg and toast BUT.....

It's vanilla yogurt,  half of a peach and sliced marble creme loaf cake. They had a dark apple loaf cake that looked like wheat toast but I thought this one would taste better.
The boys were so excited and asked what kind of bread it was and if their sandwich could be made out of it.

LOVE how it turned out

I actually made ham, egg and cheese breakfast burritos. They both had state testing today and I wanted them to have something other than sugar. :)

FRIDGE ALIVE - Googly or wiggly eyes on everything in the fridge

They laughed at this one.

SHOE STUFF - Shoes too small? Why won't they fit? I stuffed the front with tissue paper. :)

One was tricked but gave it away for my other son....darn it!

PHASE TWO - complete!!!
LUNCH - Baby food, Cheetos bag and pop top can of beans filled with something else (bag and can both re-sealed from the bottom), string cheese and water bottle with googly eyes, and a box of jello. YUMMMM and nutritious!

What I put in their lunch. I forgot to picture the yogurt. It went in the bag of Cheetos with the cookies.

I had to cut the sandwich into triangles to fit in the baby food package

Everything opened from the bottom or side

Fruit

Cookies and yogurt (not pictured)

Pretzels. These are the leftovers (spade and diamond) from this post. I opened the can from the bottom, saved the beans and washed the can. Then filled with pretzels and little April Fool's Day sticker and sealed with hot glue.

Googly eyes :) Some are stickers and some I used hot glue to attach.

DEAD BATTERIES - Tape over computer mouse censor  - Classic April Fool's Day prank.

PHASE THREE - in the works!!!
DINNER-  Chocolate cake for dinner and fish sticks, mash potatoes with gravy, baked beans,  and peas and carrots for dessert. I had too many photos so I broke it up into two posts.

Hope this gives you some ideas for next April Fool's or just to have a little fun!

BTW, the boys got me back with the blue "death screen" as my screen background. ARGGGG! Good one!
