Easy mesh tube bow tutorial - gift wrapping idea - purple themed package with Dollar Tree finds

I love the tube mesh for wreaths but it's also great for making bows.
Here's a quick way to make a super cute bow with mesh tubing and curling ribbon.

Mesh tubing, curling ribbon, and matching wrapping paper all purchased at Dollar Tree.

46" mesh tube
56" curling ribbon

Make loops with the mesh tubing.

Make loops with the curling ribbon and add to the mesh ribbon.

Start with the mesh tubing and curling ribbon tied around the gift and leave the ends long enough to attach the bow.

I like to attach three bunches of mesh tubing and curling ribbon.

Tie the first bunch with both the mesh and curling ribbon.

Tie the second bunch with both the mesh and curling ribbon across the first bunch making an X.

Tie the third bunch with just the curling ribbon and in the same direction as the first bunch attached.

Trim any longer pieces, curl the ribbon, and adjust until you like it.

Striped zebra cupcakes - How to make - hot pink & black and white zebra print themed birthday party idea

What a fun idea for a hot pink & zebra themed party!

Years ago we made a striped cake that was red, white, and blue and thought this would be perfect to make zebra cupcakes.

I used dark chocolate fudge and classic white box mix. I recommend the directions exactly for consistency. I changed the recipe a little with an extra egg, milk, and butter but the batter was a little thick.

Add black food color to the dark chocolate fudge.

Mix well to blend the food color.

Fill ziplock bags with each batter.

Cut off a small corner of the bag to control the fill.

Squeeze dark chocolate fudge batter in the center of the baking cup and pinch the corner of the ziplock bag. Switch to the next color.

Fill the center with the classic white batter.

Continue alternating colors. Each time adding the next color into the center. My batter was a little thick so I tapped the baking tray on the counter to get the layers to spread.

NOTE: If I made them again, I would make the layers thicker by adding more of each color batter when alternating.

Bake as directed.
18 mins at 350 degrees.

I used pearl, silver, white, and black sprinkles.

Base icing I dipped in hot pink sugar sprinkles.
Added more icing and sprinkles.

Tips & tricks for decorating and working with candy melts - Hot pink & black and white dipped Oreos - Zebra themed party idea

This post may contain affiliate links. Click here to learn more.

I hosted a luau themed bingo a few years ago and made these fun dipped Oreos. I thought they would be perfect for a hot pink & zebra themed party.

How to make tutorial HERE

I used candy melts, Oreo cookies, and a silicone baking mold to create the dipped cookies.

I wanted to show extra details when making and decorating.

Why are my Oreos uneven?
This happens when using molds but can easily be fixed.

Take a warm pan and put pressure on the edges that are uneven. This works very quickly. Place Oreos on parchment paper after melting to prevent sticking.

Why are my Candy Melts too thick?

If you've had trouble working with candy melts you might need to add a little coconut oil. This will make the consistency perfect for dipping or decorating. I add 1-2 tsp after Candy Melts are melted and mix well.

Do I need decorating bags and tips?
I love my 12" decorating bags  and #2 Wilton tip to decorate but sometimes I'm in a rush and can't find them.

Don't worry if you don't have decorating bags or tips. Ziplock bags work just fine.

Fill the ziplock bag with melted Candy Melts and seal.

Cut a very very small corner off with scissors. This cut will be similar to the decorating tip size. Start small and cut larger if needed.

See! Looks the same!

I usually mixed a bunch of sprinkles together for decorating.

Drizzled and add the sprinkles. Work fast before it dries.
