Chocolate dipped Pretzel Rods - EASTER TREAT IDEA - Tips & tricks for dipping - DIY tutorial

Dipped pretzel rods are so easy to make and easy to match a color theme.

Supplies:
Pretzel Rods
Candy Melts
Sprinkles
Coconut oil - optional
Bowls for melting
Tall cups for dipping
Parchment paper
Pretzel bags
Ribbon

I made 40 pretzel rods.
2 bags of the HEB brand pretzel rods. Several were broken or I could've made more.
2 bags of candy melts (pink and yellow) and I almost used the entire bag of both colors.
2 small bags of Wilton Spring Sprinkles.

I used tall narrow glasses for dipping.

I have the candy melts pictured in the glasses prior to melting but I did not heat them in the glass.

I used bowls to heat the candy melts and transferred to the glasses. The glass gets too hot to hold and it's much easier in the bowl. I did a tutorial and details about the coconut oil HERE. I added to each bowl to make the consistency a little thinner for easier dipping.

Dipped pretzel and lightly shook off the excess without touching the glass. Placed on parchment paper.

I only dipped the ends but you could use taller glasses or fill the glass up more.

Dip 3-5 pretzels and add sprinkles.

Let dry. If needed you can place them in the refrigerator for about 5 mins to harden faster. Do not leave them in there for long. Candy melts get sticky if left in the fridge.

If you refrigerated, wait until back to room temp before bagging.

Bag and add matching ribbon.

We brought them to bingo for all the residents and staff.

Archie came to visit and wore his PEEP shirt!

Fancy DIPPED OREOS - How to tutorial with silicone mold - PARTY FAVORS - Wedding, birthdays, events - DIY no bake treats

I love making dipped oreos -  Patriotic,  teacher appreciationbasketball partyanniversary, Valentine's daymini oreos, EVEN on a stick but I've never used a mold. To be honest I think it's way too much chocolate BUT they look so pretty. My boys think they look like hockey pucks and my youngest could only take a few bites.

With all that said, I still made some for three different events. They all turned out amazing and everyone oooh'd and ahhh'd over them. Some said they looked too pretty to eat and that's probably a good thing. :)

I found a silicone baking mold online and they came in a pack of two.

I melted candy melts in a bowl in the microwave. Microwaved for 40 seconds, moved the melts around with a spoon and microwave again for 20 more seconds.

They are usually pretty soft at this point and just need to stir until smooth. IF NOT, microwave for another 20-30 seconds.

I didn't need to add any coconut oil like I did for dipped nutter butters.

Add a spoonful of melted candy melts into the bottom of the mold. It's just enough to cover the bottom. Press the Oreo in the center of the mold but not too hard. You don't want the cookie to show through.

Use another spoonful to cover the top of the Oreo and spread out the candy melts over the cookie.

Next hold the edges of the mold and lightly tap the mold on the counter to get all the air bubbles out.

In the process the cookie also comes to the top.

After I'm sure all or most of the air bubbles are out I use the spoon to gently press the cookie back down.

Tap the mold one more time to get the top to even out.

Place in the freezer for about 10-15 mins. Pop from mold and let sit until back to room temperature before decorating.

I made these for a luau party after I made some mini luau candies.

They were the perfect size for the top and turned out so cute!

I made these for a co-worker's birthday and put them in a cute take out box that matched one of the colors of the confetti sprinkles.

And I made these for a friend's bridal shower.

PATRIOTIC treat IDEAS - pretzels & PEEPS - No Bake - Chocolate dipped - Red, White & Blue

I went to the dollar store and found these cups and straws....hmmmm what to make???

Btw, 24 straws for $1 is a great deal!!!

Pretzels are always an easy favorite but I think I was being a little lazy.  After dipping these nutter butter cookies I decided to only dip the pretzel half way too.

Candy Melts (Red & Blue)
Sprinkles

Bags
Ribbon
Parchment paper

Heat chocolate and dip, add sprinkles or drizzle with candy melts.

Bagged and added a ribbon.

Super cute! I ended up making these for the retirement residents for Memorial Day and when we called Bingo. They loved them.

Now what to do with the straws?? I originally thought of doing dipped marshmallows which is another favorite but then I found patriotic peeps!!!

So excited and they looked cute in the package. I love PEEPS and putting them on a stick would be awesome, right!? NOPE! They looked super creepy.  Maybe dipping them in chocolate would make them cute. NOPE! Didn't help and now they looked like a cross between Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Penguin from Batman.

SEE!!!

Some things work out and some don't. Lol. MOVING ON....

THEN I saw GIANT marshmallows!!! I've made these for a few events lately and people love them!

It's hard to tell from this photo but they are about 2" tall!
I'll try to post a picture of one next to a regular marshmallow for a size reference.

I usually like to dip the stick in chocolate first and insert BUT these are going stay upside down and bagged. I figured it didn't need the extra support.

Candy Melts

Heat candy melts and dip. I held the edges of the marshmallows instead of the stick when dipping.

Added sprinkles

Set on parchment paper to dry.

Did you notice I alternated the color of candy melts opposite the straw!? :)

I used the same size bags above for the pretzels but I trimmed off about 1 1/2 inches from the top before bagging.

So cute!!

I'll add these little tags and done!
