Gender Reveal / Baby Shower PARTY ideas - DIY decorations - Large display, photo backdrop, table decor and more!

I had the best time planning this party! So. Much. Fun.

Here are some DIY decoration ideas. 

I love the photo backdrop area!!!!

I used the gold curtains from our Red Carpet Event & NYE photos. I ordered the Pastel Fringe Curtains from Amazon. It came with both colors that measured 3ft x 6ft. I folded them in half to make it fuller. 

The boxes were one of my favorite decorations. So easy and inexpensive for something that stands out so much. You could do BOY or GIRL for a baby shower. 

Supplies:

16x16 packing boxes

Hot glue gun

Craft paint

Scapbook paper or spray paint

I sealed the boxes using hot glue. Don't seal with packing tape. The paint won't cover that area. 

 My original plan was to wrap the boxes in solid pink and solid blue wrapping paper but I couldn't find any solid colors I liked. I used craft paint instead. 

I used a wide brush to paint the top and all the sides. I did not paint the bottom.

Painted one coat and let dry and then applied a second coat.

I bought two bottles of paint and between the boxes and another craft I had 1/2 a bottle of paint left.

I printed letters and cut out to use as a stencil.

I originally was going to spray paint the letters on the boxes but I ran out of time. 

Plan B! I used gold corrugated scrapbook paper I found at Micheal's. 

I used the stencils to trace the letters. 

I like how they turned out but wish the A & Y were a little thicker. I made them first and had a hard time trimming the B's down without making them look weird. 

Attached letters to the boxes with hot glue.

LETTERS

Purchased letters and paint at Micheal's. I wanted them wide enough to stand alone without being mounted on a base.  

I used the same paint as the boxes. Two coats of paint and clear sealer spray paint.

BACKDROP

I made the backdrop last minute from leftover PVC pipe from Halloween. 

All supplies were leftover so you can adjust as needed. Here's what I used.

Supplies - 3/4" PVC:

2 - T connectors

1 - single connector

2 - elbow connectors

2 - 83" PVC (sides)

2 - 40" PVC (top)

2 - 24" & 2 - 14" PVC (base)

I cut the PVC I had to 83" for the sides.

I didn't have a long enough piece for the top so I connected two 40" pieces together. 

It would've been better to use one piece. 

I also only had random pieces for the base. 2 - 24" and 2  - 14". I used the longer pieces for the rear of the base and added weights. 

I made a diaper cake for decoration and also a little gift to take home.

Embossed FOIL ART - Summer CRAFT for kids - DIY - Homemade COLORFUL gift idea

The boys made this card for my Mom's birthday but it would be a cute gift or fun summer craft!

Things you'll need:
card stock, cardboard, or canvas
glue gun & glue sticks (SMALLER KIDS - Elmer's glue and yarn)
heavy duty foil
Elmer's glue or adhesive spray
Q-tips or paint brush
Sharpie markers

I found these sharpie markers at Michael's and used a $50% off coupon.

I suggest to pre-draw designs with pencil to make sure they include areas to color in. For example, use block letters.

This design was kinda small and harder to get details to show. The BIGGER the design the better it turns out and easier to work with.

Trace design with hot glue gun or smaller kids can glue yarn down. Let dry.

We used adhesive spray but I think Elmer's glue works best to get the foil closer to the edges. If you use Elmer's glue, don't apply too much.

 Lay foil on top of board or canvas starting in the center and slowly work your way out. This way the foil is not too tight.

Use a stiff paintbrush or q-tips and carefully push foil down and close to the hot glue or yarn. It will tear easily so be gentle.

Once dry, color with sharpie markers.

Harry Potter Themed Party IDEA - BRIDAL SHOWER - Favors and decoration ideas!

I love themed parties and was sooooooo excited to help a friend plan/brainstorm for an out of town Harry Potter themed bridal shower. Yippee!!! I was only the creative consultant and small pre-maker of just a few ideas. 

If you've seen the movie you'll know the part where all the candles are floating over head in the Room of Requirement. Well the idea was to make the candles and attach with fishing line to clear balloons to make them "float"

paints 

Hard to see (sorry.) This was my messy work station on scrap paper. I first made a template for size, traced a TON of them and cut.

Started by using an off white paint to add depth to the candle stick. Fun messy painting. Then added red and yellow to the tip, blended and added a little brighter orange. They all turned out a little different but very cool.

Let them dry and painted the back the same way.

They looked a little plain and I was going to glitter the tops with real glitter and glue but I was afraid they might get heavy for the balloon. Instead I used plain Glitter Blast.

Little sparkles for that extra touch :)

I didn't get to see the final picture from the party but I suggested fishing line attached to balloons filled with helium. Make the strings long enough to hang the candles just above the guests.

PARTY FAVORS

Used 2x6 1/4 inch mini paper sacks and gold ribbon to make broom stick party favor bags. 

Just cut the bag into strips 3/4 the way down. This way you still had a bag to put items in and gather the strips and add a ribbon. Made it look like a broom.

Filled with two gold Lindor chocolates for Snitches and mini bags with raisins as owl poop. Not sure if she added anything else. 

Made a cute little tag to attach to the raisin bags. So funny!

I also made personalized thank you tags (not pictured) for the outside of the bag with the date of the event. Personalized tags can be ordered HERE.
