Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards - SNACK ideas - ALL ORANGE theme - Nick Watch Party

It's that time again, Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards! 

My boys and their friends love to have a watch party every year. 

Here's what I set up last year for them. 

ALL ORANGE snacks

Gummy candy orange slices

Orange M&M's 

Orange Gatorade

GIANT Pizza

Made chocolate chip cookies and added orange colored morsels.

Leftover from Halloween. 

Next maybe all green and slime themed.

Halloween Party Prep - IDEAS - Adult/Kid - Music, food, decorations, drinks, photobooth

FOUR DAYS until it's time to party! With that said, I'm a planner. No, not just a planner but a pre-planner. Okay, I'm a pre-pre-planner while making test runs of items so I can plan if I'm going to use them while planning the party. Get it? I'm crazy.  So now I'm just putting together some final touches. SO EXCITED!!!!  Zombies being freshened up since our last storm.

Music playlist selected. Some changes were made after pre-listening to the order and songs that would play. We axed The Munsters Theme since it plays twice, Thriller (club mix) and went with the original, still undecided about 2 and 9. Might go with Day O Banana Boat from Beetlejuice instead or maybe not. Still planning. Oh and we added another song called Calling All the Monsters. 

 This year for food I have a few new items and did a test run already.  Zombie eyeballs: Deviled eggs turned green with an olive and bloodshot lines. After the test run I decided to use green olives with the pimento. 

Tutorial HERE Raw meat or Red velvet rice crispy treats. Oh man. They were a huge hit for my trial run. Now I've made them twice and they are gross looking and delicious! PERFECT! Could be fun for April Fool's Day.

I have also have few new drinks. This one is a party staple but molded into Brainsssss! Jello shot brains. 

I made these disgusting green slime looking shots and put in mini brain molds. Sour apple aka Zombie brain. I LOVE THEM!!!

I created a Horror Movie Trivia slideshow to run during the party. Just something for fun. My house has tons of decor and almost completely done except for a few spider webs or roaches. 

Adding my last little touches to the photobooth and deciding what props to put out. I have mustaches, big red lips, funny faces but everyone will be in costume. Probably just the speech/talk bubbles and photo frame. I have a Polaroid frame but thinking of making an instagram one too. Hmmmm....maybe tonight project.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY Breakfast & Lunch IDEAS - Fun for the kids - GREEN themed FOOD

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

So I love a good theme and St. Patty's Day is perfect! GREEN EVERYTHING!!!

I'm not a fan of food color but breakfast was full of it. One day won't hurt, right?

Boys LOVED everything!

BREAKFAST

Green eggs, sausage, and toast with a clover! So cute and easy!

I also made apple turnovers and colored the icing green. 

My original idea was something simple like oatmeal and sliced apple or even Lucky Charms cereal. Easy peasy!

Also, I did THIS last year.

LUNCH

Grapes, yogurt, fruit, veggie wrap tortillas, pickles, sugar free gummy bears, veggie chips and cashew & spirulina bar. 

Chips look brown but they are very green

Granny smith apple, green grapes and kiwi

Veggie wrap with cream cheese and ham

Green water bottle too AND their lunch kits happen to be GREEN!!! Oh how I love everything to match!

Added the napkin and DONE!

FUN dinner IDEAS for kids - FLIP FLOP dessert and dinner! HEALTHY CAKE?

This is part TWO of what I did for April Fool's Day but what a fun dinner surprise that can be done any time!

 

PART ONE - Breakfast and Lunch 

This was so much fun and the boys LOVED everything.

Dessert for dinner and dinner for dessert? WHAT?

They were very suspicious with all morning and afternoon pranks so I had to play it off like I wasn't doing anything. At one point they wanted to know what I was baking so I turned the oven light and calmly said, "cake." Then the light quickly off. {{whew}} It helped that I kept telling them I was done for the day and no more surprises. 

HEALTHY CAKE

So excited how well it turned out!!!

I made my meatloaf recipe and put it into two cake pans. Baked a lot less time so it wouldn't dry out. 35-40 mins vs my usual 60 mins.

Made my mash potatoes extra creamy and smooth for the "icing." When the meatloaf was done I stacked with a layer of mash potatoes in between.

Covered the cake with icing but I didn't like how bumpy it looked :(

I took wax paper and covered the top and smoothed it out with my hand. Removed and did the same thing around the sides in sections. PERFECT! Well, not perfect but looked so much better. 

I used a large icing tip (one for cupcakes) and made it look more like a cake. Used a tiny heart cookie cutter to make the embellishments out of carrots.

LOOK! It even sliced like cake!

I served it with gravy that was my "caramel sauce" and green beans. I didn't have anything clever besides the carrots so I served those last. 

FISH STICKS, PEAS AND CARROTS, BAKED BEANS AND MASH POTATOES AND GRAVY

I would like to say I DID NOT let them eat all of this. It was a joke and they got to eat only some of it. SUGAR OVERLOAD!

Breading is crushed up Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Melted white candy melts

Kit Kats

Dipped and rolled and placed on wax paper

I also made a few details to make it look more believable.

Fried fish? 

I used a little oil and crumbs of the cereal to make it look like I fried the fish sticks and put them on the paper towel before their plate. {{tenting fingers}} "EX-CELLENT" (Simpsons reference)

Peas and carrots are Starburst and Laffy Taffy

Baked beans are chocolate covered raisins and a little caramel sauce

Mash potatoes - Vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. I molded the ice cream and put on wax paper in the freezer. Put it out last because it melts fast.
