Links of Gratitude - Thanksgiving KID FRIENDLY activity idea - Create a paper chain to hang or table decoration - GIVING THANKS

We recently helped make paper gratitude chains for United Way. They're using them to decorate the tables for their upcoming Feast of Sharing on Thanksgiving.

This would be an easy Thanksgiving craft. Fun activity that also teaches kids to give thanks.

Use as a decoration by hanging or adding to a table or mantel.

Supplies:

Strips of paper
Strips of scrap book paper (sane size)
Stickers
Stamps
Markers
Stapler
We added strips of decorative scrapbooking paper in between our written links.

We also used fall or Thanksgiving stamps and stickers to decorate links.

Love this idea!

Happy Thanksgiving!

DIY Thanksgiving - FANCY PIE CRUST - fall leaves & colors - PUMPKIN or APPLE Pie Idea - Decorative holiday baking idea

Pumpkin pies are my favorite!! I decided to make the edges a little more colorful similar to my CARAMEL APPLE PIE and the PI PIE

I used the same premade pie dough from my POT PIE recipe.

Pizza cutter to make the strips for the braids.

Cookie cutters for the acorns, pumpkins, and leaves.

I found this one at a bake shop and love it!

I used Wilton food coloring. Copper, Brown, Golden Yellow and "No Taste" Red.

Used paint brushes to apply color.

I had a tiny bit of water on the parchment paper to dilute the food coloring and to blend colors.

I painted all the cut outs and strips.

I would suggest painting the strips last and braid right away. The thin pie dough dries out fast making the color crack when you braid.

You can see some of the cracks here at the rounded areas. It didn't look bad and no one would notice.

I made two braids to fit around the edges.

I used a little water to attach to the pie crust.

Added all the little cutouts.

Fill with pumpkin pie mixture.

Not shown but I added foil under the acorns, pumpkins, and leaves. Since it's hanging over the edge and not supported, it will bend when you bake. To prevent that just add foil as the support.

I made one for the school, a party and Thanksgiving. So many compliments!!!

Thanksgiving BREAKFAST treat! Two cute ideas! ACORN donuts and Fall Themed Cinnamon Rolls

Thanksgiving morning is always hectic but once the turkey is in the oven and the stuffing is made I have a little down time to make something special for breakfast.....SUGAR!!! Well, it's a special fun day for everyone so what the heck. :)

Acorn Donuts

These are surprisingly quick, easy and not messy. NOT at all what I would've thought.

Sprinkles and a can of frosting

Remove lid and stir to loosen it up. 30 secs in the microwave.

Donut holes and pretzel sticks broken in half

Dip in frosting and shake remaining off, dip in sprinkles and stick the pretzel in the top. Place on wax paper to dry.

EASY PEASY!!!!

So cute!!!

Favorite of the bunch was the turtle crunch sprinkles (carmel flavor sold at Micheal's craft store), then the chocolate sprinkles next. The other two were a tie.

Super happy taste testers!

Cinnamon Rolls with a fall theme

Super easy!!!

Cinnamon rolls, food color and sprinkles

I planned on using the yellow and red to make a darker orange but I added enough yellow to make this color. I didn't end up using the red.

Bake cinnamon rolls according to the package

Apply icing and add sprinkles

DONE! They turned out to be a huge hit with the kids.

Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

"Nutty" Class/Neighbor/Teacher GIFT - Thanksgiving ACORN treats - free downloadable TAGS!

I saw these on pinterest and thought they would make a cute gift for the boys to hand out to class....then I thought they would also be cute in the teacher lounge...THEN....I thought they would be cute to hang on my neighbors doors. :) We also kept some for our house for Thanksgiving.

So we made a TON...ummm....the boys made a TON!!!!! :)

I've included FREE downloadable tags too! See below

So cute!

We decided to make BOTH Golden Mini Oreos and Nutter Butter Bites with CARMEL, PUMPKIN SPICE and REGULAR kisses with alternating butterscotch and chocolate morsels.

Make ALL combinations or make none! (cheesy Go Big or Go Home applied to these cookies...nevermind :) )

I put the boys to work! I melted the candy melts and bagged in a ziplock with a wilton tip #3

TA-DA!!!
The verdict is in and Nutter Butter with the pumpkin spice kiss was voted the best!

Left over kisses and one empty candy jar. Since I didn't have enough to fill it to the top I used a paper towel roll to fill space in the center.
