FINALLY FINISHED!!!! {{happy dance}}
I started this project 10 months ago and would work on it between a million other crafts. At some point I stuck it in the corner behind a door and basically forgot about it.
I would remember why I started when I had to dig through numerous boxes of tangled ribbon.
I originally had all my ribbon on this display holder I made in 2012.
Why it didn't work: I'm lazy.
When I finished a roll of ribbon I didn't want to take the entire row down and remove all the empty spools. What ended up happening was the entire organizer was empty spools and I was too lazy to put the new ones on.
I also found that I used & wasted ribbon. Just pulled a bunch and cut to make sure I had enough to use but then I usually had a lot of excess. :/
I decided to make it all wrapping paper instead and I love it!!!
I just wanted to pick up the ribbon and put it back. This way I could use only what I needed.
I found all the materials at Home Depot.
I actually started planning this project in February of 2018!!! Photos are from February. By the time I finally bought the supplies the prices had gone up.
I loved them all!!!
Almost bought these but thought they would be perfect for another project.
I ended up getting the White True Bead Panel.
Since I don't have my own saw {{on my wish list}} I was at the mercy of other people/place.
The Home Depot saw was constantly out of order and part of the reason it took so long to purchase. :(
I'm sure prices are even higher now since I took these photos when I purchased in September last year.
Finally working and I had them cut the board down to fit my space.
The price had also gone up from 88 cents to 94 cents. Per foot price so it was the most expensive part of the project.
I also had them cut all the molding to size for me and had a small issue because I went back a few times and each person would cut the pieces a little differently. I ended up using the widest piece and adjusting the smaller pieces in place. I ended up making it work but some rows have a small gap at the end.
Placed everything together on the floor to get an idea for spacing.
I spray painted the inside of the molding for only the first several rows. The higher the shelf the less I could see. :)
I used a few rolls to figure out spacing and marked placement with a pencil.
I attached shelves on the side and in the back.
I'm obviously not the best with a hammer but the marks wiped off.
I made the spacing a little larger than the ribbon so I could also store deco mesh and larger spools.
My helper and craft room mascot. He's in there all the time. Might have something to do with the treats or maybe he just loves hearing me talk about crafts.
Each row was checked with the level.
My husband added anchors to the wall and attached with large screws at the bottom and top.
8' x 2' with 18 rows!
I absolutely love it!
