Going Summer Color Crazy - HAIR COLOR tutorial

SECOND annual Going Summer Color Crazy :)

This started last year as a reward for such a great school year. Perfect attendance and all A Honor Roll for the entire year is something to celebrate!

After begging and pleading (and bugging) this is what they requested:

This year they both had all A Honor Roll the entire year, Citizenship award and Math Star Club award. {{insert PROUD MAMA SMILE}} It was a great year and once again the begging and bugging began. My little one was a little braver this year.

Names they came up with -  "Blue Hair I Don't Care" and "On Fire"

What's nice is by the end of summer it's grown out and hair cuts take all the color off. Something fun for summer!

It's hard to tell from the photo but little guys hair is alternating blue and teal and my mohawk guy is red, orange, and yellow.

I used Joico semi-permanent intensity color. I actually bought every color they make (not pictured) thinking I might have some fun too but that is yet to happen. I'm chicken :)

I used 30 volume developer and mixed it 1:1 with Joico Creme Lightener

We only lighten once and color a few times during the summer. It fades after a few swimming pool days and showers. The lighter it gets we either do a touch up or a different color.

20 mins on lightener, wash, dry
20 mins on color, wash, dry

Like last year I lifted the hair on the crown of his head and colored the layer just below. This way it doesn't look as bad growing out.

LAST YEAR

Totally worth every minute! He was so excited and said, "Mama, I ROCK!"

Thank you for stopping by!
