Halloween deco mesh wreath idea - Dollar Tree finds - How to make tutorial - Easy and inexpensive

Look at this super cute Halloween wreath!!

I just love Dollar Tree for holiday signs and crafting supplies. I recently found 18" wreath frames!! Usually they only sell 14" so I was super excited. 

Supplies

Deco mesh (5.5")

Wreath form (18")

Ribbon

Sign 

Chenille stems/sticks or pipe cleaners

Wire cutters

Scissors

Ruler

Ribbon from Michael's. 2 1/2" black glitter and orange and black stripes. 1 1/2" black ribbon. 

Frame, sign, and deco mesh from Dollar Tree.

This black and white striped mesh was found in Christmas and not Halloween. 

I usually roll the mesh like on the Halloween table centerpiece and summer wreath I made. This time I cut the mesh 17" long and made little butterfly bunches. 

Roll ends and flip over.

Bunch together in the center.

Cut chenille stems 4" or longer if you want and secure in the middle.

See! It looks like a butterfly. 

Now make a bunch!

I made 48 total.

I attached all the chenille stems on the center ring in each section.

The sign was thin so I used a piece of wood attached with hot glue before stapling the chenille stems. I attached 3 on the back of the sign and added a little hot glue to secure the staple.

I removed the rope hanger and used the chenille stems to secure the sign to the metal wreath form.

6' loops with a 5' tail. I made loops and twisted in the middle before making my next loop. 

I unfortunately don't have great pics of the bow because that black glitter was EVERYWHERE!!! 

It's pretty but pretty messy. 

Dovetail cut on the ends of each ribbon.

DIY Color changing LED lights - Teenager room decor idea - How to tutorial to connect light strips - bedroom makeover

We added LED lights to my sons room and he loves it!

We purchased these from Amazon since it said 32.8ft. I originally thought it was going to be one roll. It's okay since you can connect them.

It's pretty obvious now but the g - green, r - red, b - blue. These must line up in the same order when connecting.

The remote already has 20 colors and a bunch of different fade speeds BUT you can also customize your own colors under the DIY buttons.

They are pretty easy to attach. Just pull the protective plastic off the back little by little to expose the sticky side of the tape. Work in small lengths since it's really sticky and you don't the strip to stick to another part of the strip.

Now for the tricky part. Connecting two strips together.

I purchased these connecting clips from Amazon. 

Cut on the line provided. We did test that you must cut here and here only. 

It's a little hard to get the strip to slide under the metal prongs since the back is sticky. I rubbed the area to make it less sticky and kept trying until I got it fully under the prongs. I did try to leave the protective plastic on but it's too thick to fit.

Photo shows the prongs touching but not fully under the prongs. 

Do the same for the other side. Make sure to match up the G, R, B. Also, before you continue to place the strip, cycle through all the colors. If one is not connected right you'll know before you attach the strip to the wall. I am speaking from experience. :/

It turned out so cool. 

NOTE: The brightness fades on each additional strip you add. We connected three strips and the 3rd strip is visibly lighter but only on some colors. White is the most noticeable. You can hardly tell on the main colors or when it fades colors.

We did try a 4th strip and it was a drastic change in brightness. We had to start a new connection at the base. (Two are provided for each plug)

One strip starts at the base of his dresser and goes to the right around the door, up the wall, and around the ceiling. The second strip starts at the base of the dresser and goes left behind the dresser, around the door, up the wall and ends at the strip on the ceiling. The two that meet on the ceiling are not connected to each other. 

We ended up ordering 3 boxes and going around his ceiling and down the wall and around two doors. There was a little left over and we used it around the TV. 

One remote will work all the strips no matter how many you have connected or new strips. You might need to be closer to the sensor if you have multiple plugs with sensors. We only used one plug (two connectors) for everything on the walls. We did use a second plug for the small area on his tv.

It's very soothing to watch the colors fade.

Office HALLOWEEN decoration ideas - SPOOKY tree & spiders / bats - easy & inexpensive - cubical fun

I just recently posted about office birthday decorations and after begging and promising not to use gruesome, scary, creepy, or bloody decorations AND no body parts or clowns.......THEY LET ME DECORATE!!!!! {{mwahahahahaha}}

So I don't do cutesy or whimsical Halloween decor EVER....NEVER EVER! I still didn't want cute but needed to think about clients walking in. I brainstormed and was going to either go with a bat or spider theme. One person is sooooo scared of spiders and the same one I pulled this SPIDER IN A CUP PRANK on. I kinda mentioned it might be about spiders and they wouldn't be that creepy. I didn't really get an okay but later that night I was at Target and they had a bunch of fun spider decor and no bat stuff.

Spider theme it is!

Because I didn't want to spend a lot of money and I tried to find very inexpensive supplies.

We had a leftover tri fold display board at work. I used one flap for the curly deco mesh centerpiece and the rest for the base of the tree. I needed something to keep it in place against the wall and it worked perfect!!!

I've made a paper tree before for the elementary school library and "Camp Read Along" theme for a classroom so I knew it would be pretty easy. (Trying to find pics of past trees) I also made tons of vines for a dinosaur party years ago.

I rolled out two really long pieces of craft paper for the trunk. One single piece would not be wide enough.

At the base I cut three sections on one piece and two sections on the other. These are the roots of the tree.

I crumpled and twisted the roots for a basic shape. Doesn't look that good ......yet. :)

I continued to crumple the trunk.

Made the roots have a little more shape and longer.

I hot glued the trunk to the tri fold cardboard leaving extra not attached on the bottom for the roots. 

Used one command strip to secure in place.

Each limb is separate. I cut the packing paper at an angle to form the end of the branch. I attached with a small amount of hot glue and/or a couple pieces of packing tape. 

The fishing line supports the limbs and to hang spiders.

I purchased a roll of magnetic tape for the magnetic board frame craft and it didn't work BUT was perfect for magnetic spiders!!!!

I cut the ring part off and hot glued tiny pieces of magnetic tape. EASY PEASY!

I tried magnetic buttons but they cover up too much of the spider. Plus the magnetic roll is much cheaper.

I added the extra spiders I didn't use for the table centerpiece to these little pots already in the office.

Tombstones and spider web to my desk. The spiderweb was from the $1 store and the hardest to work with. Usually it can be pulled but this just fell apart.  I planned to cover the office but this is all I ended up doing.

I love to make deco mesh wreaths and thought a centerpiece for our office conference table would be perfect. Orange, purple, green and black should be as cutesy enough. Plus the spiders are glittery. It matches our office lime green color too! Tutorial HERE.

I love how it turned out and was thinking that I could remove all the spider web and spiders after Halloween and add fall leaves. It would double for October and November decor. :) We'll see if they agree.

Had to share. :) I do this for almost every project. I get an idea and sketch something out but I can't draw. Usually you can't decipher what's going on. THIS ONE is so cute and exactly what I decorated. My son calls them my "game plan" paper. Lol!
